We are not a riding school and do not participate in riding lessons. We offer pleasure riding offering an experience with our Clydesdale Horses and farm animals.
All experiences must be booked in advance
You do not need riding skills to ride with us but whether you are a non-rider or an advanced/accomplished rider every participant riding with us is assessed on the day and will be accompanied by a guide.
Riding Safety hat is mandatory to ride with us at Blackstone, whether using your own or ours.
Dress comfortably for our Scottish whether with long trousers, fully enclosed shoe/boot for riding with a small defined heal for safety riding with the English style stirrups. We do not stock footwear at the farm.
Riders weight restriction for novice and non riders is up to 15 stone fully clothed, Experienced and accomplished riders up to 17 stone fully clothed.
On arrival at the centre you will be greeted by one of our Blackstone family members where we will discuss what you will be doing on you unique time with us, conduct the essential safety briefing, fitted for safety hat if required and hi-vis waistcoat. Your experience will be set up to the personal information provided on your completed information form.
We expect all guests to follow our biosecurity procedures on the farm without question. This requires you to wash your hands thoroughly and dip your feet in a container of disinfectant before and after your experience.
No food facility at Blackstone farm.
The ride pace is set by ground condition and your skill set or the least experienced riders skill set in your group.
We will maintain social distancing where possible but if safety is a risk the leader will step in.
Every person participating is required to complete a personal information form, understanding the T&C’s. You cannot participate unless the information form is completed, signed and returned in advance before your booked date.
In reality it can be extremely difficult to assess peoples true riding skills from the completed form! We are limited to how much we can assess any riders abilities until they are actually in the saddle on the Clydesdale in front of us.
We do not have the facility to asses you in a private arena when participating in off farm rides. We are guided by the information you provide on your completed form to choose a mount for you. We are restricted to the Clydesdales that are transported to the Beach and Estate so it is very important for you to be clear on your riding skills before we meet you at the destination.
Beach Ride up to a maximum of 6 participants of experienced and competent riders plus guide/s.
Competent, experienced and advanced riders [under 17 stone fully clothed] at the beach must be able to control the clydesdales actions, give direction and instructions to the Clydesdale in the english saddle, bridle and stirrups. When assessed in the saddle on the day at the Beach and it is found that you cannot control the Clydesdales actions your accompanying guide will:
