Road Safety

Road Safety at Blackstone Clydesdales

We have to take great care on roads and be seen with high visibility tabards in place whether walking on foot or riding along them. Horse, rider and walkers safety is paramount!

On wide roads we ride in single file with great consideration for other users. On narrow roads we ride two abreast in good sound order i.e. organised not strung out, this is to ensure other users do not attempt to creep past where it is not safe to do so. Once we come to a safe passing place we let the road clear and then commence the journey. Do not let drivers bully you into passing in an unsafe place they can wait a few seconds to ensure a safe pass. Safety is paramount, rushing inconsiderate car drivers cause accidents, be firm. Equally where car drivers stop to let us pass please thank them.

Participants responsibilities

You are responsible for completing your information form as accurately and truthfully, under no circumstances to exaggerate riding ability or fitness levels. We reserve the right to confidentially check all riding guests weight and NO one can participate without the T&C's being accepted.

The rider understands that anyone riding or coming near a horse can suffer bodily or other injuries. Horses are unpredictable by nature. When frightened by real or perceived danger or when under stress, they can jump forward or sideways, run, buck, bite, kick or rear without warning. Risk of injury is inherent in this activity. The rider agrees to assume the risk of injury or death caused by horseback riding, and any other consequential losses resulting from such an incident.

We will not take anyone on this experience when riding without wearing an approved riding hat and correct footwear and clothing; equally we will not take any rider under 16 years of age unless accompanied or has the permission by a responsible adult, parent or guardian.

Children on the Farm

Due to several reasons, not least safety, insurance and the fact that Blackstone is A WORKING FARM, we have found it necessary to introduce rules regarding the presence of children on the Farm.

Children 8 years and under are NOT ACCEPTED on an experience without a parent or guardian present through out the experience

All Children 9 years and over on the experience without a parent or guardian present MUST be signed in and out of the farm by the parent or guardian, and are ONLY accepted on the Farm, when they are fully aware of the dangers of being in close proximity to all farm animals and the parent or guardian has read and signed the T&C's and wavier.

Children on the experience are NOT permitted to bring spectating child friends with them.

The above rules apply to ALL youngsters on the Farm. Parents will be contacted to come and remove immediately any children found to be on the Farm contrary to the above rules.
